Apollo’s Greeting

I watched the crepuscular rays of twilight fade,
fade into a kaleidoscope of different shades,
citrus, apricot, pumpkin and tangerine,
including all hues in between.
The cirrus clouds were contradicting
like overgrown vines on a brick building, against
Apollo's ball of warmth
which rises to say hello again.
The people greet it back
as the streets fill with
strangers whose only common friend
is the sun.
And the sky continues to dance,
celebrating this new day.
