Recently. Twitter has rebranded. Although it has been known for its iconic bird logo, Elon Musk's takeover of the social media platform has brought upon a new logo as well -- an "X." At the time of the article, the logo on the website and the app versions of the platform were unchanged, but the logo had changed to an "X." Before the logo change was confirmed, Musk posted a video of an "X" flickering using the audio chat feature on Twitter, Spaces. Using Spaces, he explained that the new logo is meant to symbolize embracing imperfections that make people unique and different from one another. Moreover, he let listeners know that the original Twitter branding and bird imagery will be removed. Due to the logo/brand change, x.com now redirects to what is still currently twitter.com. All the rebranding done to Twitter thus far is part of Musk's plan to expand Twitter's capabilities, similar to WeChat.
Although Musk plans to expand Twitter, he is also restricting the current capabilities that users have. Notably, he has placed new restrictions on daily direct messages for users who are unverified on the app. This change aims to encourage more users to pay for a subscription service for the app.
